As therapists, we face the layers of human suffering every day. While we encourage clients to seek support in community, we often struggle to find our own. Partners and friends often can’t understand the weight and complexity of our job and how the necessity of confidentiality forces us to hold so much. As humans, we feel grief, fear, resentment, frustration, irritation, disgust, and other “negative” emotions throughout our work. We sometimes ignore or push these away because they are not how a therapist “should” feel. This group is not a case consultation group or just a place to complain and vent. It is an intentional effort to build a communal space to help us hold together what is too heavy to hold alone. When we hold it together, perhaps it will shift into something lighter, or transform into something else entirely.

Participants will be given group topics ahead of time to encourage personal reflection prior to sharing with the group. Participants are expected to bring the qualities of curiosity and openness. Topics include: clients and moments that haunt us, mistakes we made, identity of Therapist, unexpected challenges, and more. Group is limited to maximum 8 members.
